Paris Design Week 2025: A Tribute to Art Deco at Galerie Rinck

From September 4 to 13, Rinck opens its gallery doors to celebrate the legacy of Art Deco. On Rue de Beaune, time seems to stand still, inviting visitors to rediscover the spirit of the 1930s — an era when ensembliers décorateurs shaped complete worlds, from furniture to textiles, lighting to carpets.

The gallery transforms, offering visitors the chance to explore contemporary creations designed by Rinck’s studio and crafted in its workshops.

Here, Art Deco is not frozen in the past: it inspires, reinvents itself, and enters into dialogue with our time.

A JOURNEY INTO ART DECO

Drawing from its 1930s archives, Rinck presents a scenography that pays tribute to the era’s boundless creativity. Pure forms, noble materials, and the graphic ornamentations characteristic of the Art Deco style come to life through the finesse of a table leg, the sculpted surfaces of gouged wood, and abstract, geometric patterns inspired by Cubist art.

The exhibition showcases emblematic pieces: the sofa and coffee tables from the Hébé collection, the modular Amarante bookcase, the sculptural pieces from the Félicité collection, the Passage bench, and the Opus Memoria Throne — a true statement of craftsmanship and creativity.

It echoes the effervescence of the great artistic milestones of the time, such as the 1925 International Exhibition of Decorative Arts, which marked the dawn of this iconic style.

THE TOTAL ART WORK OF ART/ BETWEEN HARMONY AND UNITY

The scenography envisioned by Rinck draws on the concept of the total work of art, so dear to the creators of the 1920s and 1930s. Each piece is part of a coherent whole, where furniture, textiles, carpets, and lighting interact to form a harmonious ensemble.

In this spirit, the gallery revisits the approach of the great figures of the era, such as Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann, Eileen Gray, and Jules Leleu, who conceived spaces in their entirety — “from floor to ceiling, from ashtray to chandelier.”

TEXTILES AS A NARRATIVE THREAD

Among the pieces on display, the Rinck x Thevenon textile collection punctuates the scenography. Designed by Rinck’s studio, it draws inspiration from historical archives and boldly reinterprets iconic motifs.

Frise revisits the proportions of classical friezes, anchoring them in a sense of timeless modernity.

Intarse, a nod to marquetry inlays, plays on the subtlety of an elegant, contemporary striped pattern.

Sarment, an heir to Cubist textiles, offers a reinvented graphic aesthetic infused with a “neo-1930s” spirit.

Finally, Filigranes, inspired by a leaf pattern in amaranth created for the 1939 New York World’s Fair, unfolds into a delicate profusion of foliage.

These textiles resonate with the furniture pieces, offering new perspectives. They become elements of staging that enhance immersion without drawing attention away from the essence: the richness of Rinck’s collections, rooted in a constant dialogue between archival heritage and contemporary vision. Far from mere reproduction, Rinck offers a subtle reinterpretation, where material becomes a true vector of emotion.

ART DECO REIMAGINED BY RINCK

This tribute to Art Deco is both respectful of the past and open to the present. Textures, plays of light, and the richness of compositions reflect the creative precision of Rinck’s workshops. The exhibition invites visitors to travel through time, to experience the effervescence of an era while discovering a renewed vision of the style — a living Art Deco where emotion arises as much from artisanal mastery as from the boldness of lines and associations.

Galerie Rinck welcomes you from September 5 to 13, 2025, for Paris Design Week. An immersion into the world of Art Deco, between heritage and modernity, in the heart of Paris.
