The Story of an Extraordinary Work

With Simon Buret’s poetic, sculptural work entitled La Nuit, Rinck brings another singular creation into the fold of its Opus Memoria collection. This monumental bronze sculpture stand aligns with an artistic approach specific to this collection: imagining the fictional legacy of a multidisciplinary creator expressed through exceptional pieces in which arts, materials, and narratives intersect.

Opus Memoria was born of a desire to tell the story of a creative life through furniture, to compose an imaginary memory shaped by sculptural pieces—fragments of an inner world. This ongoing narrative embodies the legacy of a fictional genius: musician, painter, sculptor. A desk, a table lamp, a throne, and a cheval mirror have already come to life in this imagined lineage. La Nuit joined the collection to echo the world of music—an absence until now—before evolving beyond that initial intent into a freer, more symbolic creation.

The result of an artistic encounter between Simon Buret and the Rinck workshops, the work is rooted in the very DNA of Opus Memoria: a dialogue between disciplines, craftsmanship, and form. From clay to bronze, the creative process of La Nuit brought together an ornamental sculptor, an art founder, designers, and artisans. Far from a simple stylistic exercise, the piece extends the collection’s emotional language, where design meets introspection.

Winged and feminine, enigmatic and serene, La Nuit holds within it a hollow core—an intentional void. For the artist, this space is not empty, but full of meaning. It invites silence, contemplation, projection. It becomes a space for the viewer’s own emotions to take shape, a quiet presence, as evocative as any solid form.

This unique piece also reflects a central theme of Opus Memoria: the beauty of illusion, transformation, and ambiguity. Just as a leather throne is draped like skin, or a ceramic piece mimics stone, La Nuit plays with perception. It fascinates and unsettles—a union of softness and strength, of interiority and presence.

Through this work, Rinck continues its exploration of collectible furniture that is both narrative and sensorial. With its precious materials, its cross-disciplinary approach to fine craftsmanship, and its openness to interpretation, La Nuit embodies a new facet of Opus Memoria—an exceptional creation shaped by fictional memory, yet entirely real.
