Rinck in the United States: A Story of Craftsmanship and Collaboration

From New York to Palm Beach, Rinck continues to expand its presence in the United States. This growth is supported by a local team, major interior architecture and bespoke interior projects, and an ongoing dialogue with its French workshops.

International in outlook since its beginnings, Rinck has a longstanding relationship with the United States, where its activities have grown considerably over the past twenty years. Today, this presence is supported by a local team of eight, led by Thibaut Ngo, Director of Rinck Inc., working closely with Valentin Goux.

In New York, Rinck’s offices and showroom at the New York Design Center on Lexington Avenue place the company at the heart of the American design and decoration scene. Opened in 2022, the space welcomes private clients wishing to discover pieces from the collections, as well as architects and interior designers with whom new collaborations take shape. Furniture, material samples and finish options provide a tangible starting point for discussions around each project.

In Florida, these close relationships with the design community extend to Palm Beach Atelier, an initiative launched by designer Sarah Magness. Bringing together interior architecture, decoration and fine craftsmanship, this space offers another setting in which to present Rinck’s creations and expertise.

Projects in the United States bring together teams on both sides of the Atlantic. For each commission, two project managers—one in France and one in the United States—ensure seamless communication between architects, interior designers, general contractors and the workshops.

In France, two design and manufacturing sites bring together around one hundred people with complementary skills in cabinetmaking, architectural joinery, carving, upholstery and decorative finishes. Wood paneling, furniture and bespoke fittings take shape here in keeping with the architectural vision, whether classical or contemporary.

In the United States, Rinck Inc. oversees preparations for on-site work, coordinates logistics and monitors installation alongside local partners. This local presence combines the precision of the French workshops with a firsthand understanding of the constraints, schedules and expectations of the American market.

“It is a very dynamic market, where responsiveness and the ability to propose solutions are essential,” says Thibaut Ngo.

Multistory private residences, New York apartments, reception spaces, hotels and restaurants: Rinck’s work in the United States spans projects as varied as their architectural styles. In 2025, the teams oversaw eight residential projects in New York, the Hamptons, Massachusetts and Florida, now at various stages of design, fabrication and installation.

In Manhattan, a six-story townhouse illustrates the scope of a Rinck commission through the fit-out of its primary suite. The dressing rooms feature leather-wrapped cabinetry with rounded corners, while the bedroom combines fabric-covered walls, an upholstered headboard and bespoke furniture in leather, high-gloss veneer and polished brass. In the bathroom, antiqued mirrors meet stone-clad elements.

Extending well beyond the supply of furniture, these creations become part of the architecture itself.

In other Manhattan apartments, this expertise finds expression on a more intimate scale. A dressing room combines verre églomisé panels, a metal framework and a leather-wrapped island; elsewhere, bedrooms and bathrooms feature tufted panels, textured glass, antique mirrors and furniture designed specifically for the spaces they occupy. These sometimes subtle details reveal the same care in the choice of materials and the way they are worked.

The projects extend beyond New York. In the Hamptons, a reception space brings together oak, woven leather, glass and bronze. In Massachusetts, the bespoke fittings for a contemporary residence include a shagreen-covered dressing room island. In Miami Beach, the teams are working on offices, a wine cellar and a 60-square-meter kitchen—projects in which the quality of execution matters as much as the precision of the design.

On the West Coast, a Los Angeles residence offers another expression of these skills. Shagreen, eucalyptus, stone, tinted glass and patinated bronze form a distinctly contemporary palette. Bronze-clad dressing room doors, adorned with sculpted handles depicting human figures, bring a distinctive artistic vision into dialogue with the craftsmanship of the carving workshop.

Alongside this residential work, Rinck has extensive experience in hotels and restaurants. In New York, the company crafted the joinery and carved decorative elements for Buddakan restaurant, working with Gilles & Boissier and Christian Liaigre. For the Baccarat Hotel, designed by Gilles & Boissier, Rinck produced a number of furniture pieces and decorative elements. At L’Avenue at Saks, designed by Philippe Starck, solid oak, notably carved and gouged, helps define the interior’s character.

Carved wood paneling, fine woods, leather cladding, integrated furniture and bespoke decorative pieces: the variety of these projects reflects a shared commitment to bringing technical mastery, rich materials and precise craftsmanship to the particular character of each setting.

This work is rooted in a longstanding transatlantic relationship. In 1939, Rinck presented a sideboard in the French decorative arts pavilion at the New York World’s Fair. In 1954, Daniel Rinck, son of Maurice Rinck, moved to the United States. Appointed Co-President of Rinck USA in 1955, he helped carry forward the skills passed down through his family on the other side of the Atlantic.

The exhibitions and projects that followed continued this international outlook, leading to Rinck Inc.’s presence today.

Rinck’s position in the United States has been built over time: through relationships with the architecture and design community, projects realized together and trust strengthened with each new commission. Bringing French workshops and American teams together, this collaboration is opening up new possibilities while keeping international ambition firmly rooted in exacting craftsmanship.
