This year, the award in the category of Artisanship & Craftsmanship is presented to Thierry Goux in recognition of his lifetime achievement. Through him, it is the recent history of Rinck itself that is being celebrated, along with the continuity of a savoir-faire passed down from generation to generation.
For more than thirty years, Thierry Goux has worked to bridge the worlds of French fine craftsmanship and contemporary design. Trained from an early age in the exacting standards of artisanal skill — notably through his experience with the Compagnons du Devoir — he founded his own workshop in 1988 before merging it in 2003 with the Rinck and shaping the group as it exists today. His vision was to bring designers and manufacturing workshops together under one roof, in the spirit of the great Parisian ensembliers-décorateurs capable of conceiving and delivering exceptional turnkey interiors.
Under his leadership, Rinck has developed a distinctive approach, combining mastery of traditional techniques — paneling, furniture making, bronze work — with a constant attention to the evolution of contemporary design and technologies. Awarded the Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant label as early as 2006, the house today embodies a rare synthesis of heritage and innovation, sustained by a wide range of exceptional crafts continuously transmitted and enriched over time.
